Thursday Jan 30, 2020
In this episode, you will learn:
- The two areas of focus that have helped me to find joy
- A reminder that you're the only you and why it is the most important concept to grasp
- My number one practice that keeps me sane
I have been working on coming up with the right concept for my next anecdotal episode, and it came to me very clear in the past week. I almost created this so that I can listen to it the next time I personally need the reminder. What brings us joy? How do we find that for ourselves? Take a listen to hear why I think finding joy can be challenging, how to overcome it, and the benefits of putting yourself first.

In this episode, you will learn:
- What lead Tracey to switch up her path after achieving what she 'thought' she had wanted
- What she knows for sure
- Her take on why "it's never too late"
On this episode, we interview Dr. Tracy Taddey, D.D.S. and the owner of the La Jolla Dentist off Prospect Street in the La Jolla Village, which just celebrated 45 years in business. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father, Dr. Taddey obtained her B.A. from New York University, and is a third-generation dentist. She began her career at Elle Magazine in New York City as a Beauty and Fashion Editor, researching health issues for articles, and it was there where she realized she wasn’t on the right path. Instead of sticking with a career and life that wasn’t fulfilling to her, she took a chance and left it all behind to pursue Dental School and a path that she knew was more aligned with who she was . Today, Dr. Taddey is honored to be voted BEST DENTIST for 2019 in La Jolla Light Readers Poll and for many past years she has consistently been voted among The Best Dentists in La Jolla in both The La Jolla Light, and the La Jolla Village News newspaper reader polls. She is also a member of several local and national dental societies including the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association, and is an Alumni Board member of University of the Pacific Dental School. She volunteers her time at schools educating children on dental health and participates in community health projects providing care for children in need. She runs competitively and enjoys participating in Half Marathons and Marathons, including The Boston Marathon 2019.
I really enjoyed getting to know Dr. Tracy, as she is warm, inviting, and a very genuine person. Listen to hear her journey on the path to success, and why “It’s Never Too Late”. Enjoy!

A Lesson on "There is No There": Enjoy Life, Right Now
Saturday Dec 14, 2019
Saturday Dec 14, 2019
In this episode, you will learn:
- How to enjoy the present moment now, and not wait until you get 'there'
- How to question why you have the goals you have
- Ways in which you can recognize if you're waiting for 'there'
This past week, after sharing with a friend that I have a goal of purchasing a home in the next year or so, he then asked me, "why do you want to buy a house?" I shared a few things that came to mind such as being able to host friends and family, hang Holiday lights and an American Flag on my front door. It then occurred to me that the 'why' behind my goal of achieving buying a house had nothing to do with my 'why' of being. My 'why' of being is to connect, share love and kindness while I inspire others to live their best lives. So ... why am I so focused on this goal of buying a house that it's making me miss the present moment? This idea that once I have 'X', things will be different. I think a lot of us live our lives this way, and it makes us miss the precious time we have each day. Listen in to hear more about how to live for today and not for the 'there' that may never come.

As a high D (DISC Assessment) I strive for perfection and results, often tying these achievements to my worthiness. In this episode, you will learn:
- What turn of unexpected events ultimately led me to move to San Diego
- Why I believe everything is always working out for our highest good
- And a few lessons on overcoming obstacles
My goal for the La Jolla Local involves sharing other’s stories and experiences in order to tie together an overall lesson, and as the host, I recognized that I have yet to share my story, the real version. I like to be vulnerable, as I believe that is the true foundation of connection and relationships. It is scary and uncomfortable, but if my story and lessons learned can help even just one person in one way, then it was totally worth it. Take a listen to hear more about me, the challenges that I’ve faced, and why I believe that everything is always working out for your highest good.

In this episode, you will learn:
- The approach Kera uses to overcome life's obstacles
- The story behind how she became the successful Owner and Sales Director of the La Jolla Sports Club
- What does she know for sure, and more!
I recently had the opportunity to connect with the fabulous Kera Murphy, who is the Owner and Sales Director of the La Jolla Sports Club off Fay Avenue in the Village. With over 23,000 Sf, 85 weekly classes, a staff of over 63 fitness professionals, steam rooms, infared saunas, even chilled eucalyptus towels. Kera and her staff do not skimp in any way when it comes to providing service to their members.
In addition to all this, she is also successfully operating three other businesses including SanDiego.com, KLM hair design and her nonprofit for animals and children, The Promising Future Fund.
As you can already guess, Kera is one driven gal, but beyond all that, she is also kind and confident, while still maintaining an approachable sense and is realistic about life. After growing up on a produce farm in upstate New York with her mother, listen in to hear what one decision drove Kera to leave behind what some would call the perfect life, selling all of her belongings and moving out to La Jolla, and we’re so glad she did. I loved recording this episode, so listen in to learn more about Kera, what she knows for sure, and how she has overcome the obstacles in her life by ‘Just handling it’. I hope you enjoy this episode of The La Jolla Local as much as I do.
